VICTORY LANE REBUILDING UPDATE
Hey RC Fanatics,
Thanks for your continued support. Everyone here at
Victory Lane is eager and excited to get the track re-opened. If all goes like we plan, we hope to have the
track open by January 1, 2014. Then we can have a HUGE New Years Race Celebration!!!
I wanted to give you an update on where we stand;
We're working with St. Bernard Parish to iron out specifics of our plan and finalize settlements with the insurance company. We've developed a scope of work and hope to have timeline in place soon. It's going to take some work, but we're ready to get things moving.
I'll make sure to post pictures of the progress so stay tuned.

FIRE TEMPORARILY CLOSES VICTORY LANE
Sheriff: 2 teens arrested in connection with miniature car business fire. 9-11-2013
The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office says two teens were arrested in connection with the burning of a Chalmette miniature car and racing business
The Sheriff’s Office says 18-year-old Michael Riedel of Violet and 17-year-old Brandon Ricouard of Chalmette broke into the Victory Lane hobby shop in the old Vista Park playground gym in Chalmette Monday morning.
Riedel and Ricouard stole $30 and took a digital camera memory card before setting the place on fire to cover the break-in, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The teens were stopped following a call reporting suspicious people behind a Chalmette business Tuesday evening.
The Sheriff’s Office says the teens were selling stolen cellphones to a business that buys phones.
The phones came from a car that was burglarized early Tuesday morning, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office says the teens also attempted to set the car on fire but were unsuccessful.
Riedel admitted to both burglaries and said Ricouard was present for both, the Sheriff’s Office says.
Both teens were booked on charges of arson, attempted arson, possession of stolen property and two counts of burglary.
A fire on Monday in a St. Bernard Parish government-owned building was labeled suspicious by parish authorities on Monday afternoon. The two-alarm Chalmette fire that started about 3 a.m. Monday allegedly destroyed Victory Lane Raceway, a miniature vehicle racing business operating at 8540 Victory Drive.
Victory Lane Raceway, which leased its space from the parish government, sold and rented miniature,
remote-controlled cars and held races with them inside the former Vista Park playground gym, according to parish authorities and the company's websites.
"They lost their entire inventory'' in the fire, Fire Chief Tommy Stone said. No injuries were reported and St. Bernard firefighters had the fire under control by about 4 a.m. Monday, Stone said.
He said the state fire marshal's office was brought into the investigation because the parish government owns the building. Parish
detectives are investigating a potential break-in of the
business, according to the St. Bernard Sheriff's Office.
Stone said a resident who heard an explosion reported the blaze about 3:20 a.m. Monday. The fire largely was confined to the room that formerly housed the gym's concession stand, Stone said.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at 504.822.1111 or the St. Bernard Sheriff's Office at 504.271.2501. Callers could be eligible for a reward if they have information that leads to an arrest, according to the Sheriff's Office.
